The new year, and the one we leave behind.
So, this year hasn't been the greatest ever... but I don't think I could pick a year out of all the years I have lived that was "great". There has always been challenges, but I never thought that through everything the world would just continue to move on. I don't wish for an amazing upcoming year, but I do wish for an average year. Average is better than great, I think that average describes me better than any other word. Because with Average, there is no peak. That's what I like about average, it's steady, calm. But I know that nothing is average, and that this year will be a great adventure, not as great an adventure as Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter, or twilight (?), but it's an Adventure.

The new hearthrob in hollywood??!
I'm not really the type to crush over actors or anything (except you Robert Pattinson:) but when I really like and love an actor, it means they are good. Some of you may be shocked by this but....(brace yourselves).... it's Michael Cera. after seeing his amazing (awesome, incredible, addicting, hilarious, suspenseful, did I mention that it's awesome?) movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, I fell in love with him. True, he was amazing in Juno, and Youth in Revolt, but this movie really showed how good of an actor he really is. Look, I'm really not going to tear up if you hate him, but if you're wondering who in the world I'm talking about, look him up. You are on a computer or wifi device, so I know you're on internet, so look him up. Or you could rent one of his movies too.

Is awesomeness in your DNA?
I wonder... is awesomeness in your DNA? It must be in some cases because Judy Garland passed it on to Liza Minnelli. I didn't even know Judy Garland was Liza's mother, but apparently so. For all of you who don't know who Judy Garland is, you might recognize her as Wizard of Oz's Dorothy; and for all of you that are wondering who Lize Minnelli is, you might of seen her in the film production of the Broadway Musical Cabaret which she played Sally Bowles, or for her musical talents, you might own her record The Singer.<Liza Minnelli<Judy Garland

Tuesday Poems... fit for any mood.
"My secrets cry aloud. I have no need for tongue. My heart keeps open house, My doors are widely flung."
-Theodore Roethke
"The Head is steady, calm, and wise
And bears a princely part;
And down bellow in secret lies
The warm impulsive heart."
-John Godfrey Saxe
"The music in my heart I bore
Long after it was heard no more."

Okay...
So, maybe I am a little irrational.... but whatever:) I am human, so my instincts are to get mad when someone offends me, and my instincts are also to rip their heads off, but hey, I can't help it (there was no ripping off of any heads). We had homework today about John Steinbeck. We had to make a diploma of his accomplishments, and here's the best part.... we had to write an essay comparing John Steinbeck's life and style of writing to Edgar Allen Poe (so I think... what's the point of this?)! Personally I like Steinbeck better because Poe can be a little creepy, considering most of his stories are murder stories.... But anyhoo... I am finished with that, now all I need is a back brace, a mountain dew, and to veg out over blades of glory. Fun! So here is a random picture of Will Ferrell to wrap that up...(?)

Back From New York!!!
New York is an amazing city full of so many different types of people, and cultures, that you see people dancing in the street,
singing, shouting,
bargaining deals in Chinatown.....
...meeting in time square
walking through central park...
the options are endless! With so many kinds of people, you almost feel like you could be anyone, and do anything you want. I got to practice the very little french that I know with some other tourists which was fun. My favorite part of New York was Broadway, we saw West Side Story, and The Phantom of the Opera. Both were fantastic! Though, I really liked (LOVED!!!!!!) The Phantom of the opera.
My journey brought me two pairs of black pants, a shirt, and a Sharks t-shirt (West side story), and a scarf (from Chinatown) which were all great deals. I have seriously considered living in this wonderful city, and now I'm quite sure that I want to, and hopefully will... eventually:)
If you are planning to visit New York I advise to go to Manhattan, walk through central park, go to time square (the forever21!), Chinatown, a broadway show, Take a double-decker bus tour, and Visit the Empire State building, and the Statue of liberty! All of these I enjoyed doing. But it is also cool to walk around without a map or a destination, and just see where you end up!

Off to New York....
In just a few minutes I will be on my way to New York. A journey of about 12 hours. Thankfully I am not the one driving, so I will be able to read, and sleep and listen to my on the road CD mix. I am excited to see NY for the first time, and I think it will be fun!

Don't eat three doughnuts in a row.
I have learned a very important lesson today, and that is that you shouldn't eat 2 jelly doughnuts, a glazed doughnut, and two mini muffins at the same time, because it makes you sick. I shall no longer buy treats in big batches because I have no control. What can I say, I'm addicted, but I think I actually went into a sugar coma. Lesson is learned:)

Spending Quiet days....
Today is a quiet, dreary day of fog , and what looks like rain. I'd like to spend it sitting outsde reading or writing, but it's too cold for that. At least its not too hot outside, that's always a positive. It makes me sad, I had to get my comforter out last night, it was that cold. It's not summer anymore, and I know that I should be glad, but summer seemed never ending, like maybe it would last forever. It would be nice to have not gone back to school, and spend my summer days the way that I like. But I am forgetting the plus to fall, the leaves changing color, the fall fashion, the attmosphere. Don't get me wrong, fall is my favorite time of year, but sometimes I wish I could just stop in one moment and stay there just a little longer.

The world of Zine.....
After reading the book: Hard Love by: Ellen Wittinger I have learned about the world of Zine. What is a Zine you may ask? Well a zine is a self published magazine that is about whatever you want it to be, it can showcase your writing, be an art zine, anything you want. I have started to write a zine myself, oddly enough it's named.... The unincredibly fast life of abigail....:) In these Zines, I have read different poems, short stories, and play scripts. Oddly enough my local library had a short stack of free Zines in the corner, which I never knew about. Check out your local library, bookseller, or online to enter the world of zine. Or you could even start one yourself. I have taken this challange, and will soon be showcasing my first zine right here on The Incredible Still Life of Abigail.

Hard Love
Hard Love by Ellen Wittinger was one of the most heartbreaking, compelling books that I've read this year. It touches on some interesting topics, such as - homosexuality, a challenging friendship, and extreme oddness of character. When Gio ends up falling for his lesbian friend Marisol, things get a little tricky, and he is faced with the toughest thing of all-- hard love. He loves her, but she could never love him back in the way that he wants. It made it on my list of favorite books that I've read this year. It’s a great read, and I would grade it........ A. I highly recommend it to all interesting artsy people who are looking to read a book that is very compelling and shows a different point of view.

Random thoughts.....
Life by itself is tricky, but then it gets trickier as you get older.... I am just learning this. Things are complicated now.... as the almost official mascot of my schools Chess team, (suck at chess but good at cheering on... not good enough for cheerleading of course.... but anyways...back to the point) I have learned that being on chess team doesn't exactly get you a full ride to popularity, but honestly, I don't care. Nursing me through all of this is the one band that is slightly.... well extremely different than most: MGMT
Their Music isn't the normal pop hit sensation, but a bit electric, and sometimes touching on techno and rock. I consider it to be a genre of itself, but unfortunately Itunes disagrees. If you are interested in listening to something new, try their song: Electric Feel by: MGMT. I consider that it is a classic, but what do you think...?

Easy-A
I just saw Easy A with my dad. It is about a young girl Olive who tries to help out a gay friend by pretending to have sex with him at a party. This turns into a sort of business for her, she gets gift cards for helping out so called "losers" by letting them tell everyone that they've done 'something'. It was based off of The scarlet Letter, both of them outcasts for what they had done, so Olive sews an A onto all of her new slutty clothes because she really wants to play up her "Slut act". In the end she ends up with a great guy who accepts her, and likes her as herself. So check out Easy- A in theaters now:)
Rating: -A

Introducing me.....
Well since this is my first blog ever, I think that I should introduce myself...... I am Abigail. An incredibly sarcastic (well a wanna-be), different, insane young woman who is interested in the arts. I am an avd book reader, and I'm pretty artsy, and I am in love with music and movies, so that's what this blog will be about, just me, and my thoughts in this crazy, twisted world we live in.
